Postpartum Support

Caring for you as you care for everyone else.

The postpartum period is often focused on the baby, but your health and recovery matter too. Physical healing, hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, feeding challenges, and the emotional transition into parenthood can place significant demands on the body and nervous system.

At Sunflower Bloom Acupuncture & Healing Arts, we provide compassionate care to support recovery, restore balance, and help you feel more like yourself again.

How Acupuncture May Help

Research suggests acupuncture may help support postpartum recovery by promoting relaxation, supporting nervous system regulation, addressing pain and tension, and helping the body recover from the physical demands of pregnancy and childbirth.

Acupuncture is not intended to replace mental health care, primary care, or obstetric care. Instead, it can serve as a supportive part of an integrative postpartum care plan.

What to Expect from Treatment

Every treatment begins with a conversation.

We'll discuss your pregnancy and birth experience, recovery, sleep, energy levels, feeding concerns, emotional wellbeing, and any symptoms you're currently experiencing. The goal is to understand what support your body and nervous system need during this stage of recovery.

Treatment takes place on a comfortable heated table with pillows, bolsters, and blankets available for support. Acupuncture points are selected based on your individual presentation, and you'll then rest quietly for about 20–30 minutes while your body has an opportunity to recover and reset.

Many patients describe treatment as one of the few opportunities they have to fully relax and focus on their own well-being during the postpartum period.

A Personalized Approach to Healing

No two postpartum experiences are exactly alike.

Dr. Carolyn takes a whole-person approach, considering physical recovery, hormonal shifts, emotional wellbeing, sleep, nutrition, and nervous system health when creating your treatment plan.

Acupuncture points are selected based on your individual presentation, and treatment may be enhanced with therapies such as craniosacral therapy, aromatherapy, massage therapy, herbal medicine, dietary recommendations, or lifestyle support when appropriate.

Care is always collaborative, and treatments are adjusted based on your goals, preferences, and response to care. The focus is not simply on symptom relief, but on supporting your recovery and helping you rebuild your reserves during this important season of life.
