Acupuncture is not intended to replace medical care. Instead, it can serve as part of a comprehensive and integrative approach to pain management.
Every treatment begins with a conversation.
We'll discuss your symptoms, pain history, sleep, stress levels, daily activities, previous treatments, and how pain is affecting your life. The goal is to understand both the physical and emotional impact of living with chronic pain.
Treatment takes place on a comfortable heated table with pillows, bolsters, and blankets available for support. Acupuncture points are selected based on your individual presentation, and you'll then rest quietly for about 20–30 minutes while your body has an opportunity to settle and restore.
Many patients report feeling deeply relaxed after treatment and notice improvements in pain levels, sleep quality, tension, mobility, and overall wellbeing over time.
Chronic pain is often influenced by many interconnected factors, including inflammation, nervous system regulation, stress, sleep quality, previous injuries, and overall health.
Dr. Carolyn takes a whole-person approach, looking beyond symptoms to understand how these factors may be contributing to your experience.
Acupuncture points are selected based on your individual presentation, and treatment may be enhanced with therapies such as craniosacral therapy, cupping, gua sha, massage therapy, aromatherapy, Reiki, herbal medicine, or lifestyle recommendations when appropriate.
Care is always collaborative, and treatments are adjusted based on your goals, preferences, and response to care. The focus is not simply on managing symptoms, but on helping you build a stronger foundation for long-term well-being.
Research suggests acupuncture may help support pain management and improve quality of life for many people living with chronic pain conditions.
For many people, 4–6 weekly treatments provides a good starting point. Chronic pain often develops over time, and meaningful improvement may require a longer course of care.
Many patients seek acupuncture after trying other approaches. Treatment recommendations are individualized based on your health history, symptoms, and goals.
